The iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) turns 20 this year! Since its first debut in stores on October 10, 2003, the beloved beverage has sparked a love for all things fall and pumpkin spice. Over the last two decades, PSL has become a cultural phenomenon, so much so that Merriam-Webster officially added pumpkin spice to the dictionary last year. Here are all the ways Starbucks customers can celebrate the milestone birthday.
KidSuper + Starbucks Team PSL Limited-Edition Varsity Jacket
To kick off the birthday festivities, Starbucks has teamed up with KidSuper Studios to drop a limited-edition Team PSL Varsity Jacket. Colm Dillane, founder of KidSuper Studios, has woven in customer love for PSL throughout the jacket with his signature handwritten artwork and bright, bold designs. The jacket is a true celebration of PSL fandom, featuring top expressions of fan love, and will be available to pre-order at KidSuper.com/TeamPSL beginning at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET on Tuesday, October 10, while supplies last.
HBD PSL Temporary Tattoos
On October 10, customers who purchase a Pumpkin Spice Latte (hot, iced or blended) at Starbucks stores, including Starbucks Reserve locations, in the U.S. and Canada will receive a sheet of temporary tattoos as a gift with purchase, while supplies last.
Musical Throwback to 2003
Starbucks stores will play a curated playlist of 2003’s most popular hits, transporting customers to the year PSL was introduced. Customers celebrating on the go can throw it back to 2003 by listening to the 2003 playlist available on Starbucks Spotify profile.
Starbucks Odyssey PSL Celebration
From October 10-31, members of the Starbucks Odyssey community who own at least one Stamp are invited to attend the PSL Celebration, Starbucks first-ever party in the virtual world. Powered by Katmai, the PSL Celebration allows members to explore a 3-D “fallified village,” play games and interact with other Starbucks Odyssey members. Attending the PSL Celebration also helps to unlock the “20 Years of PSL” Journey Stamp available to Odyssey members beginning October 10. For Odyssey members who purchased one of the four PSL Stamps from the open edition collection that launched on October 5, the design of the Stamps — Steamed, Whipped, Iced and Spiced – will be revealed on October 10.
